先日、とあるネットショップを見ていたら「The British Invasion The History Of British Rock」のCD,Vol.1からVol.9まで売っていたのを見て思わず購入ボタンを押してしまいました。Vol.1～Vol.3は既に所有しておりますが、他の物が無かったもので。
British Invasionとは、60年代にThe Beatlesを始めとするイギリスのバンド、アーティストがアメリカのヒットチャートを席巻したことで命名されたものです。
そういえば、同じように80年代にDURAN DURANやSPANDAU BALLETなどイギリスのニューロマンティックのバンド・アーティストもアメリカのヒットチャートを賑わさせたましたが、その時は、New British Invasionといわれましたね。
とにかく、60年代のイギリスのバンド・アーティストの勢いは凄いものがありました。
もちろん筆頭はThe Beatlesでしたが、この9枚のアルバムに収録されているバンド・アーティストも有名どころばかりで、まさにBritish Invasionです。
60年代といえば、私も10代で、The VenturesやThe Beatlesに洋楽に目覚め、先日のブログにも書きましたが、当時、ラジオの洋楽番組ばかり聴いておりました。
この9枚に収められているバンド・アーティストを全て知っているわけではありませんが、曲を聴き進めていく内に、結構聴いたことがあるナンバーがありました。
